A Heart for the Lord

This conversation from this verse happened when the Pharisees and the Scribes has some cynical criticism to Jesus’ disciples when they ate without washing their hands (which was called ‘defiled’  by them). Then Jesus replied with this:

He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:

“‘These people honor me with their lips,
    but their hearts are far from me.

--- Mark 7:6

Let’s search our heart. Are we focussing our heart to the Lord? Or only by our lips we say good things about Him but inside our heart we never really want to follow Him wholeheartedly? Instead, we have our own thoughts and think that we’re the most important people on earth and never really care about Him? Be careful with hypocrisy. May our lips and our heart praise the Lord. Hati yang Tertuju kepada Tuhan

Percakapan ini terjadi ketika orang-orang Farisi dan ahli Taurat memberikan kritik yang sinis kepada para murid Yesus ketika mereka makan tanpa mencuci tangan mereka (yang disebut ‘najis’ oleh orang Farisi dan ahli Taurat). Lalu, Yesus menjawab sebagai berikut:

Jawab-Nya kepada mereka: "Benarlah nubuat Yesaya tentang kamu, hai orang-orang munafik! Sebab ada tertulis: Bangsa ini memuliakan Aku dengan bibirnya, padahal hatinya jauh dari pada-Ku.

Mari selidiki hati kita. Apakah hati kita tertuju pada-Nya? Atau hanya bibir kita yang berucap hal-hal baik tentang-Nya tetapi hati kita tak pernah sungguh hendak mengikuti Tuhan sepenuh hati? Bahkan, kita punya pemikiran bahwa kitalah orang yang paling penting sedunia dan tak pernah sungguh peduli pada-Nya? Berhati-hatilah dengan kemunafikan. Semoga bibir dan hati kita secara serentak memuji Tuhan. (-fon-)
