The Spirit of God

God gives us the spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. So, cast aside the spirit of timidity, because it doesn’t come from Him. We can’t avoid the feeling of fear or worry that come to us every now and then, but we need to realize that our God is bigger than every fear, every problems, that might come to our life. (-fon-)

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Love in Action

It’s easy when to love with words or tongue. But more than that, it’s harder when it comes to action and in truth. So, let’s love in actions. Stay away from the NATO (No Action Talking Only). This world needs love. And it needs love in action. (-fon-)

Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

--- 1 John 3:18

The Lord is Good

Taste and see His goodness!

Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Because He’s like no other. Only in Him we’ll find peace. (-fon-)

Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Love and Keep on Loving

First and greatest commandment from God starts with love. Love your God and love your neighbor as yourself. Have you done any act of love today? (-fon-)

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind 'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

--- Matthew 22:37-39

Cry for Help

Like David in his Psalms, we might realize that in some part of our life, we can feel this way: felt neglected, deserted, and alone.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?

O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, and am not silent.

--- Psalm 22:1-2

If we need to cry for help, we need to cry it to the Lord. He will listen. (-fon-)

Love Drives Out Fear

In domestic violence, the victim might mix up with the love or the fear. Sometimes, she thinks that she’s in love so she needs to endure everything even though it’s in pain. But, she knows that somehow she can’t take it all the time, she can’t take it anymore.

The bible reminds us that there’s no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear which sometimes comes in the form of punishment. The most perfect love comes from God Himself. God is love, He’ll cast the fear aside. (-fon-)

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Do Not Dwell in the Past

God is doing some new things everyday. Sometimes we don’t eager to see because we dwell on the former things, the past.

This is a new day, everyday is a new start, with God we’ll face a brand new day in faith. Amen. (-fon-)

"Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.

--- Isaiah 43:18-19

Sing a New Song to the Lord

Listen to the music in your heart, listen to the music of life that's always been there. Sometimes we're just too blind to see the beauty of the rhythm of life because of our problems or difficulties. It's about time to change and let's sing a new song. Sing a new song to the Lord, all the earth!(-fon-)

Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.

--- Psalm 96:1

Answer Me

Like David in his Psalms, we might wonder whether God will answer me or not in times of distress. But, yes, He’ll answer us. It might be different with whatever we want to hear, but He hears us. He’ll lend His shoulders for us to cry on. He won’t let us go. (-fon-)

Answer me when I call to you,
O my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

--- Psalm 4:1

How Long, O Lord?

Like David, we might think that God is abandoning us. We might think that He’s hiding his face from us. But, as long as we got the new understanding again, we’ll know that He has never left us. He will always be there for us. (-fon-)

How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

--- Psalm 13:1

The Words of the Lord are Flawless

In the book of Psalm, I encountered this verse:

And the words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver refined in a furnace of clay,
purified seven times.

--- Psalm 12:6

It’s glad to know that even though the Bible was more than 2000 years ago, its messages are still very up to date to nowadays life. Even in the modern world, the Bible will always be our guide in this life. (-fon-)

TOTD, Feb 15

You are God

Lord, you have been our dwelling place
throughout all generations.

Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

--- Psalm 90:1-2

Through all the generations, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Our Rock in facing this life. Thank God! (-fon-)

Hear My Voice

God, hear my voice! Maybe that’s what your heart been saying all this time. He listens to You, but sometimes you think that He doesn’t. He’s there for you, he’s available 24/7/365. Don’t worry about it, He’ll be there. He’ll come just right in time. (-fon-)

O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me.
Hear my voice when I call to you.

--- Psalm 141:1

TOTD, Feb 17

He’s the Lord, and There’s No Other

I am the LORD, and there is no other;
apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
though you have not acknowledged me,

so that from the rising of the sun
to the place of its setting
men may know there is none besides me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other.

--- Isaiah 45:5-6

He’s the Lord. There’s no other. His kingdom will reign forever and ever. Amen. (-fon-)

TOTD, Feb 18

I Knew You

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart… "

--- Jeremiah 1:5

That’s what the Lord has said to Jeremiah. Now, He’s been saying the same thing to all of us. So, never think that you’re not worthy. Because He wants you to be here in this world and do something here to fill this world with your uniqueness. He knows you. (-fon-)

Let the Light Shines Forever

In God there’s life. He’s also the light that shines in the darkness. But according to the book of John, the darkness hasn’t understood it. So, when we’re in the darkness, we don’t know about Him. He’s there but we can’t or refuse to see Him. Let’s be reminded that He’s the light and let Him be our guide in this life. Let His light shines forever and ever! (-fon-)

In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

God So Loved the World

God loves the world so much. And this is the kind of love that He has shown to us. Not only by something out of reach, something in sweet words, but He sent His only Son to rescue this world. So that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. Let’s live a grateful life because He has been so good to us. (-fon-)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

You Are Exalted Forever

It is good to praise the LORD
and make music to your name, O Most High,

to proclaim your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,

to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.

For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD;
I sing for joy at the works of your hands.

How great are your works, O LORD,
how profound your thoughts!

The senseless man does not know,
fools do not understand,

that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be forever destroyed.

But you, O LORD, are exalted forever

--- Psalm 92:1-8

Let this be our prayer for today. Let today be a celebration of praise. The celebration of our faith. Because we know that God is exalted forever. You are exalted, O Lord! (-fon-)

With Love

You did a little thing, a really tiny one. Maybe people don’t really care about it, because it’s really small. Almost invisible. But as long as you do it with love, I’m sure that every little thing counts! Don’t worry, do it with love and make a difference about it. (-fon-)

If I speak in the tonguesa]"> of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love One Another

THE NEED TO LOVE and be loved is one of the strongest of the four basic human needs. it is also a spiritual need. Even if a person can no longer express himself verbally, cannot demonstrate intellectual ability, and has no memory, at some level he can intuit meanings and feelings from the tone of voice and body language of people interacting with him.

- Jane Marie Thibault and Richard L. Morgan
No Act of Love Is Ever Wasted: The Spirituality of Caring for Persons with Dementia (The Upper Room Website)

We need to love one another. Even though this might be forgotten because we’re somehow just too busy with ourselves, but God wants us to love one another as He has loved us. And the experience of Jane and Richard as they care for persons with dementia, should give us one great reminder. That the need to love and be loved is one of the strongest basic need. So, let’s spread our love to this world today. (-fon-)

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

He Examines the Heart and Mind

You can hide the truth from others, you can even lie to them. But, God knows the truth. He searches the hart, examines the mind. Everything is transparent to Him. We need to trust Him while walking in truth in our life. Be strong, be brave in facing your everyday life in righteousness, in the right attitude towards this life. (-fon-)

I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward a man according to his conduct,
according to what his deeds deserve."

--- Jeremiah 17:10

The Lord is My Support

In disaster, we’re glad to know that God is still our support. No matter how hard the difficulty is, He’s our forever support. (-fon-)

They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the LORD was my support

--- Psalm 18:18

You Save Me

It’s good to know that even in the midst of trouble, you’ll save me. Thank You, Lord.

(-fon-)

Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes,
with your right hand you save me.

Full of His Unfailing Love

The world, this earth is full of his unfailing love. Maybe what we need to do is just spread a little bit of it every day of our life. To show the world that even though it seems that the world is falling apart, but there are some people who still care for others. And more importantly, His love will always be there for us. (-fon-)

For the word of the LORD is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.

The LORD loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.

There’s a Time for Everything

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

--- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Yes, there’s a time for everything. For every activity under heaven. What we need to do is just believe in Him, trusting Him with all our heart that everything will be beautiful in His time. In His perfect timing not ours. (-fon-)

I Will Sing

I will sing of your strength, I will sing of your love forever, Lord.

You’re my shield, my refuge, in times of trouble. And hopefully, whenever I’m happy, I’d like to sing for you too! Happy or sad, you’re a faithful God forever. Thank YOU!

(-fon-)

But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.

You’ll Never Know

You want something so badly, but God didn’t give you. You cried, shouted, disappointed, sometimes you even wanted to get even with Him by hurting Him or by refusing to go to the church. But then, somehow you got something better. Better than what you’ve expected. Better than you wanted previous times. But God gives you something better for you, it’s even the best thing for you. You might wonder. But then realized that this verse from the book of Corinthians is so true. No one has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. You’ll never know what He prepared for you. Only the best things according to His Plans. (-fon-)

However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"a]">
