The Gift of God

It’s the gift of God that we’ve been saved. It is by grace-through faith (according to Ephesians 2).
We don’t need to boast ourselves, because it’s not our work that we’ve been saved. But, we need to be thankful for God’s gift. For He has already given His son to this world and saved all of us – the sinners. (-fon-)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Will Not Be Shaken

Even the world goes down, even the inflation rate is going up, even the unemployment rate is also increasing, even all the bad things happen more and more right in front of your very eyes, just remember God’s promises. His unfailing love for us won’t be shaken. His peace which beyond our understanding will be with us. (-fon-)

Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,"

The Word Stands Forever

In the midst of many uncertainties in this life, we need to hold on to something that would stand forever. The Word of God stands forever. So, we need to really put our trust in the Lord by reading His Words and meditating them. (-fon-)

For,
"All men are like grass,

the grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of the Lord stands forever."And this is the word that was preached to you.

Hope on God

Recently I read in the newspaper, regarding some people who have lost their life time savings because of their investments-especially in stock market or in structured products. That made me realize that we can’t too be proud of the riches in this world, because they’re just temporary.

We need to remember the source of all riches, God Himself. We need to focus on Him. Be thankful if we’re trusted with some riches from Him. Help others, be generous, and don’t be arrogant. Because we don’t know what will happen next. Life has a cycle and everything changes. One thing that’s for sure and unchanged, God. Let’s put our hope on Him more. (-fon-)

As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be proud and arrogant and contemptuous of others, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches, but on God, Who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for [our] enjoyment.

Our God is an awesome God. There’s none like Him. You can search everywhere in this world, only to find that there’s no such a great God like our Lord.

He Protects Us

When I read about God’s faithfulness in Joshua, it cast my fear aside. And I want to share it with you all…

It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.
--- Joshua 24:17

We will face some worries, anxieties, and fears along this life. It’s really important to believe in Him that He will protect us. And that protection is for our entire journey in this life.
Tell Him all of our problems, with His ways that beyond our logical understanding, He will protect us. (-fon-)

He Won’t be Slow

If you see the wheel of life is turning very slow at this point of time…
Or if you wonder will He care for us even though we cry for Him night and day…
Here’s a good answer from the bible:

God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them.
--- Luke 18:7

Yes, He won’t be slow to answer all the prayers. On the other hand, He won’t be too fast either. Because if we get everything instantly, we will never learn to be patient. Just trust Him and His perfect timing. He listens to us and He cares for us. (-fon-)

Carry Each Other’s Burdens

People sometimes don’t really care about others. Some of the people that I met along the way sometimes think that their problem is the worst on earth and no one can ever help them. And that’s when they begin to think their problem is the most important one, and other’s problems are not as big as theirs.

But if we go through each person’s chapters of life, we can see that each person has got his/her own problems. Rich or poor, pretty or not, we face our own problems. That’s when we need to care about others too. By knowing that all of us have our own problems, we need to carry each other’s burdens, to support one another in this life. That will please God. (-fon-)

Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Whenever you feel that you can’t go on in this life…

Just come to Him.
He’s the Lord of all comfort.
He loves us that much so that He only wants to comfort His people.

And that’s why we need to rejoice and shout for joy. Thank You, Lord!(-fon-)

Different but the Same

We are different. No one is completely the same as us. That makes us unique.
And talking about our part in the bigger picture of the church- we have different kind of gifts but the same Spirit.

Even though we’re different, we need to remember that we serve the same God.
The same God works in us. And let’s use our different gifts to bless more people, to expand His Kingdom in this world. (-fon-)

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

Draw Near to God

We usually hold ourselves back from God in a few moments in our life, such as: disappointments, hurts, angers, etc. etc. Every now and then, we feel that God has no longer cared for us, He keeps a distant for us and that’s why we feel, we need to make a distance to Him as well.

Many times the holding back things were actually good times to reflect. And until that moment, we could realize that God is sincere to us, He loves us so much that He has already planned everything for us.

If you’re thinking of making a new distant with God, don’t do that! But instead draw near Him, tell Him all of your worries and problems. He is our true best friend who will always lend a helping hand. (-fon-)

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Put Off Falsehood

Where this world is full of falsehood and hypocrisy, the Lord of God reminds us to stay truthful in each word that comes out from our mouth and put off falsehood.
Don’t be contaminated by this world, make a difference and stay in truth. (-fon-)

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
--- Ephesians 4:25

Wrong for Wrong?

It’s easy to do a revenge, to punish everyone who has done wrong to us with something bad. But, will it have an end if we keep doing that? And what is a God’s children task in this world? Keep punishing others?
We need to stand still in compassionate love for others. It’s not easy, of course your flesh wants to keep revenge. But let the Spirit guide us to love our enemies, to love those who hurt us. (-fon-)

And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
--- 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

Sparkle!

It’s our duty to sparkle in this world, like jewels in a crown. Like what has been written in the bible:

The LORD their God will save them on that day
as the flock of his people.
They will sparkle in his land
like jewels in a crown.
--- Zechariah 9:16

So, if you think that you’re just an unworthy metal that’s rusty. I tell you what, God wants us to shine, to sparkle as His jewels in this world. Don’t see yourself in low self-esteem. God wants you to be sparkling! (-fon-)

Yes and Amen

We meet many persons in this life who make promises easily but fail to do what they’ve promised. But that won’t happen to God. God is faithful. His promises are ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen.’
Just remember the timing of God is different with ours. For His promises in our life, we believe in Him. (-fon-)

But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not "Yes" and "No." For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not "Yes" and "No," but in him it has always been "Yes." For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Nowadays, while the economic situation for even in such a country like Singapore is facing a difficult time, nothing could be done except be patient in all these problems.
While some financial issues will lead to other problems: scared of losing jobs, social unrest, don’t have enough fund to raise the kids well, etc… etc… It’s time to be patient, stay faithful in prayer, and don’t forget to rejoice in the Lord.

Something Special

If the daily routine made you bored and frustrated or you’ve experienced a very big problem that made you really sad, you might question God’s love for you.
Do you really love me, God? If you do, why should I experience these unpleasant things?
Why should I stay awake at night, can’t even get myself to sleep because I’m thinking so much about my life and worry about my future?

Well, God is there to care for us. And like what’s written in the verse below, He not only loves us very much, but also put His hands on us for something special.

Maybe, your life today is so gloomy. But remember that the sun will always shine, and God has got something special for you because we’re special in His eyes. (-fon-)

Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you're in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn't just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.

The Lord’s Purpose That Prevails

We can plan so many things. We can plan about 5 years from now, 10 years from now, or even more. Of course we need to plan our life properly, but just remember as well that we need to ask God in every plan that we make. Because eventually His Plan is the best for us. He knows us very well, even better than we know ourselves, so let His purpose prevails in our life. (-fon-)

“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.”
--- Proverbs 19:20-21

Secret of Contentment

The book of Philippians chapter 4 shows us how to live this life. We need to learn to be content in any circumstance- either in times of abundance or in times of needs, whether when we’re satisfied or not.
This is a very important message that we need to learn more nowadays. While so many unpleasant changes happen, while so many turmoil can be seen in each day of our life, we need to learn how to be content in every situation. The secret lies within our relationship with the Lord, so that He can strengthen us. (-fon-)

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in any circumstance.I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing
--- Philippians 4:11-12

A Prayer of Praise

Found this interesting prayer of praise in the book of Jude:

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

Fear Not

Actually some of us are easily scared. Either by financial turmoil that was described like ‘ hell’ in Asia by a newspaper here in Singapore, or when some incurable diseases happened to one of the family members or even to ourselves. We are all scared and live our life in fearful way in some of our days.

I wasn’t a really brave person either. I can’t say that I’m free from all fear or worries, but I try to build my faith each day. Struggling hard maybe, but I just want to be close to God no matter what, and somehow it makes my fear disappear because I have faith in Him.
Just remember He is our God who will never leave us and He will always be there for us. So, fear not! (-fon-)

O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

Forgetting What Is Behind

Forgetting what is behind is recommended by today’s verse from Philippians 3. It’s not always easy to look back on the previous sad memories without feeling painful, but we need to let go if we want to move on.

We all have our past, it’s unavoidable. It might be good or bad, or some mixtures of both, but we need to let go of the past and concentrate more on the future while cherishing what we have at this moment. (-fon-)

Thirsts for YOU

This is a psalm of David when he was in the Desert of Judah.

O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
--- Psalm 63:1

Yes, it’s true, as long as we haven’t found Him in our soul, we’ll still be thirsty and hungry for Him. There’s an emptiness that can’t be filled with any other thing or any other person. Trustworthy

We need to be trustworthy in handling worldly wealth according to the bible. Either we are trusted with very little or very much at the time being, it doesn’t matter as long as we handle it with pure honesty.
And finally, we will be given trust to get true riches that come from God himself. Be trustworthy! (-fon-)

Ways and Thoughts

We have our own ways to deal with our every day’s problems. And we also have our own thoughts in all that’s happening at the moment in our life. But many times, what we thought was completely different with the reality. And many times we had gone through the wrong ways until we found the right ones.
God has planned everything accordingly. We don’t have to be afraid. No need to worry because He has already thought about every single plan that He has for us. Sometimes, it’s completely different with our thoughts. Remember when He says:

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
--- Isaiah 55:8

But we need to reassure ourselves that His ways are the best for us. Maybe we can’t accept it at the moment. Maybe we can’t understand why this kind of thing is happening to us now, but He knows. He has already known about that and He knows our future. We need to rely on Him, all fear will be cast away.(-fon-)

Cast All Your Anxiety

Nowadays every household in Singapore is tightening their belt due to the inflation, financial crisis in the US which at least brought more or less slightly impact here, and due to the increasing price of electricity, public transport, etc.
And I’m sure it happens in many parts of the world. Like China, right now is also experiencing some difficulties because the customers all over the world have lost their trust on China’s products due to tainted milk scandal.

All of those things and many other things made us worried. We’re scared to live in this life, we face our life with anxieties.
But we need to cast all our anxiety on Him and trust Him because He cares for us. Keeping our faith in Him is the best medicine to cast all anxiety. (-fon-)

This verse below reminds us that even the young age doesn’t really matter. The real issue is that can we become an example for others in speech, in life, in love, in faith and purity. Well, we’re not perfect, aren’t we? So, why should we set a high standard as an example in this life?
We have to as the children of God. No matter how old you are right now, even you considered yourself old but still young at hearts, don’t disappoint God, just be a good example. (-fon-)
