Proclaim the Name of the Lord

Bible is full of lovely verses that described the nature while at the same time praising the Lord. Taken from the part of Deuteronomy, chapter 32. It encourages us to proclaim the name of the Lord. Under His Wings

In this chaotic world, it’s hard to find someone in whom we could trust. But the Lord offers us His shield for His faithfulness will be there for us.

Under His wings we’ll find refuge. We may walk in this world alone and feel so lonely. But now, we don’t need to feel that way, because His wings will give us enough shelter and He will give us enough strength to carry on in this unpredictable life.

Life is unsure, but He’s very sure. Seek Him and find the protection under His loving wings (-fon-)

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart

Things to Think About

When you’re busy, when your mind is occupied, either by your job, your spouse or your problems, you might focus on them too much and begin to forget the things that you should think of.

In Philippians 4:8, we could find the answers. We need to think of whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy.
In other words, try to develop positive thinking. Of course for some of us, it’s not easy, but if we can try to do it each day, we’ll see things differently from different angle in this life. And that angle, the positive side, will give us more joyful days to get through. (-fon-)

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

How to Live In Him

Sometimes, we might wonder, how should we live in Him? Well, we’re living in this world, where so many things going on. We might get confused in some stages of our life. And it’s good to be reminded again how we should live in Him.

In Deuteronomy 28:1-2, we’ll find the answers. The main point should be obeying the Lord and carefully following all his commands. That’s when the Lord will give His blessings simply by obeying Him.

Oh, we’re so stubborn, we want to live according to our will. We want to please ourselves all the time and we hate troubles.
But, living in Him means obeying Him. And that’s when we’ll find the fullest of life and joy in Him. (-fon-)

If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God.

Endure Patiently

We all will need to wait on something. Sometimes it’s only within a short period of time, while some other time, we need to face the uncertainties for quite long. Long enough to drain our energy and our faith as well. We begin to question God, if He’s that good, why doesn’t he grant our wishes?

We can see an example that has been written in the bible. Look at Abraham. He has waited so long for a son, but one thing that made him different, he endured patiently. And finally He got what God had promised him.

Sometimes we wait while at the same time we complain. Well, it’s hard not to do it, isn’t it? But today, let’s learn like Abraham, to wait and endure patiently until His time arrived for His promises in our life. (-fon-)

And so it was that he [Abraham], having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained [in the birth of Isaac as a pledge of what was to come] what God had promised him.

I Will Be With You

Maybe you’ve heard those words as you read as the title above from your family, close friends, special girlfriend/boyfriend or spouse. They promised to be with you no matter what happen in your life. That’s what we call faithfulness.

And talking about faithfulness, it seems that no one will be more faithful than our God, who will be there in our life 24/7/365. In each day of our life. He has promised that He will be with us in our joy or sorrow. Just listen to His voice which keeps saying, “ I will be with you, my child.” That’s his faithfulness to our life. That’s his promise to us.

Righteous Man

If we want to live this life with a purpose, one of the most important things is to become a righteous man. According to the Psalm, good will come to him who conducts his affairs with justice. He will never be shaken. A righteous man will be remembered forever.

Life is short. And if we want to add some meaning into it, we need to be a righteous man. A righteous man in Christ. (-fon-)

Obey Your Parents

It’s good if our parents are exactly the perfect figures for us. We can be proud of them and we can imitate them. But in reality, how many parents are really perfect? Well, as I myself enter parenthood for the last 16 months, I found that it’s not easy to be a parent. And most of all it’s almost impossible to become a perfect parent.
So, we need to give more space of forgiveness to our parents for times that they can’t do what we expect them to do. They’re only human and maybe they’ve been doing their very best all this time.

The good advice from the bible, obey our parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Even though they’re not exactly the kind of father or mother figure that we’ve been dreaming of, but we need to please the Lord by obeying them. They’re our parents after all. (-fon-)

Peacemakers

Lots of people argue easily. They argue from the smallest things until the principle ones.
They argue almost about everything.
It’s not easy to live in peace because every one has his/her own interests and wishes.

But today’s verse reminds us to become peacemakers. We’re needed in this chaotic world. And for the peacemakers, they will be called sons of God.

So, as God’s children we need to try our best to become a peacemaker wherever we are. At home, at church, at the office, at the college. Peace! :) (-fon-)

Freedom

According to 2 Corinthians 3:17, our Lord is the Spirit. And wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

I read the verse with smile. It’s a very good thing to know that our Lord is giving us freedom. His presence is identical with freedom. Of course the kind of freedom that He offers is completely different from the ones that we could obtain from this world. But, the one that He gives us is eternal freedom because He will set us free from all the bondages.
Walk freely in this life hand in hand with Him! (-fon-)

Fruitful Life

When you go shopping some groceries, either in a traditional/wet market or in a supermarket, you’ll find lots of fruits there. There are many varieties of fruits. And within those fruits, there are some in good condition, but some are not.

We’re the children of God. The bible tells us to pray in order to live a life of worthy of the Lord, to please Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10). That’s why we need to become His good disciples, to live a fruitful life in Him. (-fon-)

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Today’s The Day

If you think that you should delay your joy for one more day, then let’s see the Psalm that reminds us that this is the day, today’s the day that the Lord has made.

Magic

I’d like you to meet Simon the Sorcerer, according to the bible, taken from the Acts.

Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is the divine power known as the Great Power." They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic. But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Back to more than 2000 years ago, people had searched for divine power known as Great power. People still look for that kind of power until now, people still search for magic.
We ourselves still look for the magic in each day of our life. Sometimes due to frustration and depression in this life, we want to change everything and thought that it will be wonderful if only everything’s different.

But with God, actually our daily life is also magic. We can see His magical touch in each puzzle of life that we’ve been through. No need to search for any other magic, since we got the real divine power, the real Great Power, that’s His powerful and loving strength for us to face our life with courage and smile.
Can we still see the magic in this ordinary life of ours? Of course we can, as long as we see through the eyes of faith. (-fon-)

Mighty Warrior

If you think that this is the time when you face the most difficult and yet most powerful problem in your life, you need to remember this: the Lord is with us. He’s like a mighty warrior who guides and protects us.

With Him by our side, the problems won’t go away so easily. It will take time and will need some process. But, we’re sure that we’ll grow along the process and we’ll find that we’ve been facing the problems bravely with the Mighty Warrior by our side. (-fon-)

Forever

Have you ever give attention to fashion? You can see that the trend will come and go. That also happens to hand phone, computer, digital camera, etc. etc. The trend someday will pass away, it will be passé.

After knowing that our life is full of things that will pass away, we need to put more focus on something that will last forever. Eternity. And that reminds me of God. It’s written in the Bible that only the man who does the will of God lives forever. We need to concentrate on Him so that we’ll live forever in Him. (-fon-)

For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Rich In Good Deeds

Why are we working so hard? Most of the answers are to make more money to get a better living and most likely to be rich.

It’s not a sin to be rich, but it will be good if those who are rich in this world not become arrogant, stay low profile, don’t put too much hope in wealth-which is so uncertain. We need to remember to always put our hope in God and do the good deeds. (1 Timothy 6).

It’s no harm to become rich. But more importantly, are we rich in good deeds? Are we willing to be generous and to share? (-fon-)

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

Shield Around Me

The Rock Eternal

Like the stock market, we’re very volatile. We’re very fragile. Sometimes, we can’t even stand still to our principle and follow others easily when we’re in doubt or when we’re desperate.

But our Lord is different. He is the Rock eternal. That’s why we need to put our trust in Him forever. Knowing that we’re very fragile, we need to cling on Him who’s very strong, steady, and never changing.

Who is a God like YOU?

You might be very angry with yourself for the stupid things or the bad things that you’ve done. You can’t even forgive yourself.
Or maybe you hate someone so much because of the things he has done to you and you thought you could never forgive him.

But let us see what’s written in Micah 7:18, “ Who is God like YOU?”
Yes, there’s none like Him. He can pardon sins and forgive our transgressions. And more importantly, You oh Lord, do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

Pleasing God

There are many ways to please God. One of them is by earnestly seeking Him. With faith, we believe He exists.

Well, it’s normal if we don’t know how to please Him, and it’s also not easy to maintain our faith to Him. Most of time, our faith is like a roller coaster which is going up and down.
But today, let’s please Him. Let’s do the things that please Him. One of them is by adding up our faith in Him in each day of our life. (-fon-)

Nothing Is Too Hard for Him

At this point of time, when you have children, you might wonder how much that his/her education would cost. Right now everything has increased and will increase more, and that begins to make you worry.
Or right now, you still rent a house, you need a house badly and think that you will never buy your own house with your present salary.

Many things in our mind limit us. It tells us that we can’t do this or do that because it’s too hard for us.
But today’s words of God remind us that nothing is too hard for Him. Many times we think that we can’t make it but yet with God’s guidance we can achieve it.
Nothing is too hard for Him, so why should we think it’s too hard for us? He will help us according to His wonderful plan for us. (-fon-)

Immeasurably

We count everything. We count our salary, our income, our living cost.
We count every single cent that comes in or comes out of our pocket. That’s normal, especially in this tight money policy that makes us tighten our belt and think more before we spend on anything.

We count, we measure. But our God is the only one who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Well, He got the power to do so and that power is at work within us (according to Ephesians 3). How amazing! He is immeasurably amazing!

He Will Not Grow Tired

How have you been recently? Tired? Weary? Do you feel that you don’t have enough strength to go on in this life? Feel that you’re almost run out of your energy in facing difficulties in it?
Well, you’re not alone. I myself recently have experienced those things. Tired, weary, and in a very low energy level.
But today’s word of God reminds me of His STRENGTH. He will not grow tired or weary. That’s why we need to get closer to Him to get a new strength in this life. He is powerful. (-fon-)

Flawless

God’s Words Will Never Pass Away

God’s Words are forever up to date. It’s amazing to think that the words that have been there for more than 2000 years are still up to date until today.

Like what it’s written in Matthew 24:35, heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s words will never pass away. His Words will be an important weapon for us to deal with our daily life. (-fon-)

Finding Light in His Words

Have you ever experienced a total black out? It’s when you can’t see anything for just a moment and then you begin to search for a torch, a candle, or even your mobile phone just to help you see temporarily until the light comes back again.

It’s uneasy to be in the darkness, you might feel hate it, dislike it so much. But, as I’ve experienced many cases of black outs in Indonesia, I don’t think it’s easy to avoid it.

What if our life is in the darkness? Will we feel uneasy, dislike it as well?
But the good news is we can find our light in Him, through His Words. No matter how dark our life is right now, His Words will be a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. The Words are important and powerful. Never underestimate the power of the Words. (-fon-)

I Will Sing of Your Love

Today, if you feel depressed and frustrated with your life, just try to sing a little bit of God’s love. Try to sing His goodness, try to praise Him with all your heart.

I know, it’s not easy. Especially when you’re so disappointed with your present condition. Then you might ask, “How could I praise God in this kind of situation?”

Well, praising God doesn’t limit us to do one thing. It might have a lot of options to do so. You can sing, you can write a love letter, or you can pray in an intimate conversation with Him, telling Him all your worries, as well as thanking Him for all the good things in your life. There must be something good to praise, there must be something beautiful to sing in front of Him today. Just look a little bit further into your life, you’ll be amazed of so many love from Him that you’ve missed. (-fon-)

He Sets Us Free

Sometimes, when things aren’t going well as planned, easily we become frustrated. Sometimes we become so angry about the situation and our anguish is filling our hearts.

What should we do then? Psalm 118 tells us how to deal with it. In anguish, we should still communicate to the Lord, even the form of that communication is different with our usual prayer. In our anguish we cry to the Lord and He can set us free.

With His Love, nothing is impossible, right? He will set us free from any forms of anguish. Just come to Him, and He’ll show us the way. (-fon-)

Clear Conscience

We need to have a clear conscience as God’s disciples. The Greek word for “conscience” is suneidesis, which means “to be one’s own witness, one’s own conscience coming forward as a witness. It denotes an abiding consciousness whose nature it is to bear witness to one’s own conduct in a moral sense. It is self-awareness.” In lay terms we might say the conscience is an inner constituent casting a vote about the rightness of our behaviors.

In this world, lots of people have lost their clear conscience. They tend to deny their sins and even they found lots of reasons to allow themselves doing those mistakes. But, we need to live our live honorably in every way. So, we need to make sure that clear conscience will be our principle. (-fon-)

Health

At the time I see someone’s sick, I feel sympathy. And begin to think how to treasure our health more.

And realizing that we put so much effort in maintaining our physical health, we need to give attention to our inner health as well. Our bitterness, our hatred, our anger will develop unhealthy emotions and will bring unhealthy soul.
But no need to worry, we got our God who will bring health and healing to all wound. He will heal His people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security, as long as we seek Him for true health within us.

King of Kings

Our Lord, our God, is an awesome God. We might see that there are so many kings in this world, but there’s no such King like Him.
