Even Evil Spirits Obeyed Him

I watched this episode of ‘Supernatural’ in AXN. I seldom watch this though, but I heard it’s a good movie, so I try to watch. That episode showed me how they cast the evil spirit in the form of a ponytail of hair left from the dead person. And finally, they won. They cast the evil spirit away.

Then, somehow, it reminds me of Jesus. How He is able to cast the demons. And like we can read in the bible today, those evil spirits even obeyed Him. There’s none like Jesus. There’s no authority like Him. Praise the Lord. (-fon-)

They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!"

"Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!" The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him." News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

He Has Overcome the World

Jesus reminds us that in this world we will have trouble. It’s unavoidable. It’s predictable. But, in Him, He also offers the peaceful life amidst troubles. He has overcome the world. So, why should we worry too much? (-fon-)

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

--- John 16:33
