We Shall Be Comforted

Have you ever felt weary lately? Have you ever felt that you’ve been facing something that’s really really sad and beyond your control?
You are not alone. Whatever you’re facing right now, just bring it to God, because we know that the mourning that we’re facing, every adversity that is here right now could be turn into something good.
God has already said that He could turn our mourning into dancing, and our sorrow into joy.
For any kind of sorrow that you’re feeling right now, dedicate it to Him, and we shall be comforted. (-fon-)

Blessed and enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God's favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted!

Love With Actions and in Truth

When you fall in love with your special one, you'll feel that love is all about romantic things.
You go to candle light dinners, holding hands, listening to sweet romantic love songs, get a bouquet of roses from your boy friend, etc. etc.
But there was an article in The Straits Times - Singapore Newspaper that made me realized that even you got chocolate, roses or romantic dinner on Valentine's Day, will those things really guaranteed that the person really loves you???

Today's word of God made me really see the reality of love.
Love isn't only about sweet words. Love isn't only about praising all the good things about your loved ones.
But when it comes to a deeper meaning of love, God asks us to love with actions and most importantly in truth.
Well, you can still sing your favourite love songs though, I don't mean to interfere your sweet memories with your loved ones...:)
But most importantly, prove your love to your spouse, to your family, to your loved ones with more than words. With actions and in truth! (-fon-)

"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."

Be Holy

Inspite of the good sides, we're also have bad sides inside of us. This is what the bible mentioned as the evil desires.
We tend to hate, envy, angry, desire to revenge. All the evil desires.
But we're now God's children. And we're being led by the Holy Spirit. That's why we need to live a holy life.
Of course, it's not easy to live in such a sainthood life, but we need to remember, no matter what we do, we need to maintain the holiness.

God has told us to be holy, because He himself is holy. So, as His good disciples, we need to act as holy as we could, try to put aside the evil desires and change it into holy behavior.
Be holy, because He's holy. (-fon-)

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

Shine Like Stars

Today's words reminds me of this crooked and depraved generation that we're living in.
You can find almost any kind of crimes right now. Even on the Internet, it's so sad to read about the crimes in it, such as: downloading indecent pictures like what happened in Edison Chen's case.
Edison Chen is a famous Hongkong Actor and also an MTV VJ, famous and good looking, but due to the bitterness, the unhealthy family that he's living in, made him have to end his career at his productive age.
He's a movie star but yet failed to be a role model, He himself was telling the press about this.

And how about us? I know that we're living in a very complicated world, where lots of people become more malicious. And the crime is more modern with some high-tech in it.
We, as God's children, need to do everything good without complaining or arguing.
It's not easy, but if we can make it, we can become blameless and pure, children of God without fault, and in which we'll shine like stars in the universe.

Well, we may not be a movie star right now. But as long as we're upright and loyal to our God minus complaints, we'll be able to shine. Shine as His Stars in this world.
Amen. (-fon-)

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.

Our God is Good

When we're facing problems, we might wonder whether our God is really good. It's easy to say and keep praising that God is Good all the time while we're happy, successful, or in a very good condition.
But what if all goes wrong? Can we still say that our God is good?

One thing that we need to remember, despite what happen in the present, despite what will happen in the future, nothing can change that!
Nothing can change that our God is good right now and forever.
The main problem is we fail to see or we still can't see His wonderful plan for us.
Keep the faith, keep on hoping and realizing that His goodness won't change.
Forever and ever, He is Good. (-fon-)

Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.

Never Thirsty

Imagine that you're walking in a very hot weather. But you haven't got any water with you. Once you found the water, you might directly drink it to satisfy your thirst.
But then as soon as you walk again, you'll feel the need of water kept coming back again.
That's normal. And that's what Jesus said, " Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again."

But Jesus is different. He gives us the water that will make us never thirsty. His Water is like a living water that dwells inside of our heart.
Once we drink His water of life, we could feel relieved.
So, are you tired of searching the happiness in this life? If you're searching in this world, of course you won't find it.
The true happiness, the pure joy comes from Him.
Ask Him to satisfy your thirst with His water. We will never thirsty again! (-fon-)

Jesus said, "Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever."
--- John 4:13-14

Rejoice in Sufferings
No one would ever expect bad things in their life. People would always hope the best that everything always run smoothly according to their plan.
But, is there any chance that we could never face any trials in this world?
The fact is we must face the sufferings, we must face problems, like or dislike, we can't never avoid it.

God has told us to rejoice. Even in the bad times of a life. Even in the middle of our sufferings.
Because our sufferings would produce perseverance, then character and hope.
We know why we rejoice, because we put our hope in God.
We're not concentrating on the problems, but we're focusing on God instead. And we know, in Him we still have hope for the better. In Him, we know these all things will only bring goodness for us.
Rejoice! In good times, and especially in our sufferings. No matter what, rejoice!
(-fon-)

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Do Not Fear

God has already given us the spirit of power, love and discipline, but still we have some fears in this life.
We fear what our future might be, we fear what if our business or our job doesn't run well, we fear how could we ever possible to send our kids to the best school since it's really really expensive.
We live in fear and worries.
Today's word reminds us not to fear. God doesn't give us the spirit of fear and timidity.
And most importantly, He promised to be with us always. And He will give sufficient things for each of day for us.
So, why should we fear? (-fon-)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Work Hard and Serve the Lord

In facing some failures in my life, sometimes I tend to avoid the same thing happen again and that means I don't want to try those things again.
For example, I didn't get any job until now. There were times that I don't want to apply any jobs anymore in order not to experience the pain of rejection.

But today's word reminds me to keep on doing the good things. God asks all of us: never be lazy.
He asks us to work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. The result is for sure in His Hands, but all we can do is just work hard.
We'll do our best and let God do the rest. Let the best things in our life be revealed by God Himself.
If we don't want to try again, most probably we're losing hope and that's when we're losing our faith as well.
Never lose hope, keep on trying, keep the spirit high to work hard and to serve Him in every calling that He's giving us right now. (-fon-)

Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.

The Perfect Rock

This world is unpredictable. Many things will happen differently from our expectation.
And so many times we're in an uncertain situation where we don't know what to do, we don't even know where to go.
But our God is an awesome God. He is the Rock, the bible said. He is so strong and just. He is perfect.
So, with our Perfect Rock by our side, we could feel safe and secured.

Tell Him all our worries, doubts, anxieties, everything! He will lead us to gain all faith that we need to go on in this life.
Life might not be easy all the time. Most of it, we'll find troubles. But we got the Perfect Rock, He's our solid Rock who will always helps us. (-fon-)

He is the Rock, his works are perfect,
and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is he.

Nothing Would Separate Us

Today's verse made me realized that God's love is so strong. It's so strong that nothing, I repeat not even a single thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Lord Jesus Christ.

Not even the power of death or life, not even angles or demons. God's love would be there to see us through. His abundant love would be able to accompany us in every stage in our life or even in eternity.

So, don't ever forget about that. Don't worry too much about everything that's going wrong in this very moment, because we know and we're sure that God will be there for us. And we're guaranteed by an unshakable love of His. (-fon-)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord

Listen to Him

Today I went to a church in Clementi area. And this verse was on the altar of the church.
I kept repeating it over and over again. I kept reading it over and over again.
The message is still echoing in my ear until now.

Listen to Him!
How many times we failed to listen to Him? Maybe because we're too stubborn and over confident?
Or we're too focused with our wishes and problems while we're praying so we fail to listen to His soft whispering in our ear.

So, when we pray, we need to listen to Him. Because praying is a two-way-communications. We need to listen as much as we talk.
Have you listened to Him? Why don't we start now...? (-fon-)

Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!"

You Are A Blessing

There's time when you doubt about yourself. Especially when the people you loved or the closest one to you said that you're nothing but trouble.
When you heard something bad about you, then you begin to question your quality or even your existence in this world.
But actually, you don't need to do that!
The Lord has created all of us, including you, to be a blessing.
As He said to Abraham, " You will be a blessing.", the same God is actually saying the same thing over and over again to me, to you, to all of us.

You are a blessing. Don't ever forget or question about that!
By realizing that you're a blessing, you'll become a blessing to others. (-fon-)

The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
"I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
--- Genesis 12:1-2

Glow in The Dark

When I went to a friend's room, she made her room so beautifully decorated.
She put the 'glow in the dark' stuff on the ceiling, so that she can see the stars, the moon, every shape that she cut and put them on the ceiling, before she goes to sleep every night.

I'm imagining all of us are glowing in this dark world. This world is full of the dark parts. And we, as the children of God, need to be the light, need to shine, and become something different like glow in the dark stuff.

We're God's light. It's our duty to shine in this world.
So, have you been glowing in the dark today? :)

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

Reconciliation

It's not easy to reconcile. Lots of problems left unsolved and lots of people built anger and hatred towards others.
I myself find it not easy to forgive others. Especially the ones that's close to us. Our family. Many times we forgive others easily. When strangers step on our toes and say sorry, we then forgive them just like that.
How about our spouse, our parents or our parents in laws, our brothers/sisters, or our children when they make mistakes?
Will the reconciliation be so simple? Or we take them as a granted?

The Word of God today asks us to reconcile. We need to forgive others especially our loved ones. We need to ask His Mercy on us so that we could be more merciful towards others.
Not easy and it might need a life-time struggle to achieve that. But, it's really worth to try.
The reconciliation will benefit us the most. We will have a peaceful heart.
Ask God for more mercy. Ask Him to make us more merciful. (-fon-)

Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, Leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

Clean Heart

Today is Valentine's Day. A lot of people will send flowers, gifts, or chocolates to their loved ones. And many couples would spend this very day with romantic candle light dinner or what's being offered by an advertisement in Singapore paper, they could spend some time together in a spa.
Interesting thing but quite expensive though...

But then another article in the paper made me realized that the flowers, the gifts, the chocolates, the romantic dinner or spa will not guarantee if the person loves us.
Love has a deeper meaning. More than just such romantic thing.

Today's verse reminds me to have a clean heart. I ask God in my prayer today to cleanse my heart. So that with pure heart I could love my spouse, my child, my family, my friends, including people who dislike me with unconditional love.
God will be able to cleanse our heart. Today, in the occasion of love in this Valentine's Day, let's ask God to detox our heart, so that we'll have a pure and clean heart that will be ready to love ourselves, to love others, to love God in this lack-of-love world. Amen. (-fon-)

Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.

God Looks at the Heart

Well, we're living in the world where most people will look at the outer appearance. They would judge you from the clothes you wear, the shoes, the jewelery, the mobile phone, until the car you're driving and the house that you're living.

It's stressful to be judged that way. But our Lord is very different. He loves us just the way we are and He looks at the heart. The heart of ours that exceeds all the appearance and performance.

If you feel so stressful due to this world's judgment to you, no need to be worried, because you've got God who loves you and knows your heart. (-fon-)

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Our Father Knows

Everyone of us has our needs right now. We might need a new job, new house, new car, or new school. Every need that we have right now supposed to be prayed to Him.
Because our Father knows what our needs are and He has His own ways to give those things to us in His Plan, in His Time.

The bible also reminds us not to pray in too many words, because our Father knows. Of course we could share our problems with Him, but we need to listen to Him as well. Because prayer is a two way communications. We speak and our Father listens, and vice versa.
Many times when we pray, we talk too much and we forget to listen to Him.
Just remember He knows everything about us. Every single need that we're having right now.
Pray and listen to Him in our prayer. (-fon-)

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Jesus Did It Right

As human, we're wrong-doers. And we also met so many people who made sins and wrong things along the way. There's a saying that to err is human, so we can't escape from the mistake along the way of this life.
But Jesus has always done it right. He did His very best to save us and got us out of the trouble, He is our one and only Savior.

Even though we're full of sins, we should feel relieved now realizing that we got Jesus who did it right. We got Him who sacrificed His Life for us in order to help us.
Jesus did it right! We should always remember that... (-fon-)

Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right.

Nothing without Love

Today's verse has taught me deeper about love. The bible tells us that we're nothing without love. All the ability that we have, all the prophecy, the ability to speak any kind of language, even the possession of faith that can move a mountain means nothing if we don't have any love.

Love comes to make everything perfect. Without love, we're nothing. Without pure love that can only be experienced from God we're meaningless. We'll feel the emptiness inside and try to fill the emptiness with any secular things from this world but it will end up in another emptiness and of course, disappointment.
Until we find and experienced His Love, that's the time when we could feel being loved perfectly.
Try to seek and experienced His Love in everyday of our life. We'll be living a more meaningful life. (-fon-)

If I speak in the tongues of men
and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

God Is Knocking

We sometimes don't realize that God is always standing in front of our door and knocking. He's waiting for us to open our heart and to accept Him as our Savior.
Lots of time we fail to hear Him, maybe His knocking is so soft, just like a whispering in our ears, calling our names.
When we're facing some problems, we might call His Name with all our hearts, we pray more seriously and then we could hear His Knocking clearly.
Sometimes God allows problems to happen to us so that we could realize His knocking.

God is near, He's not that far. He's standing in front of our door and wait patiently. Do we aware of His Knocking today? Listen to our heart... (-fon-)

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

God Is The Strength

God is good all the time. And His strength endures forever and ever.
Our flesh and heart might fail (according to Psalm 73:26), but His strength last forever.

Today, I realized once more that I'm very weak. With all my weaknesses, I come to the Lord to surrender my life. I know that I'm nothing without Him. Without Him my life would be meaningless.
Realizing how imperfect I am, made me realize once more that I need to hang on to the powerful God. Not depending too much on myself. Self-confidence is needed but when it comes to over confident, we need to remember once more that we're nothing without God.
God is our source of strength! (-fon-)

My flesh and my heart may fail,

Thinking vs Loving

THE IMPORTANT THING is not to think much but to love much;
and so do that which best stirs you to love.
- Teresa of Avila
The Soul’s Passion for God

Teresa of Avila words remind me of not thinking too much. Well, it's almost impossible not to think. We have our own thoughts as a gift from God. But many times, it's our thinking that made us worry and begin to question about God.
Teresa of Avila reminds me to love more rather than think more.
Loving would solve many problems while thinking (especially the negative ones) will create more problems.

The Lord Himself is so loving. Why don't we try to be more like Him? (-fon-)

All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful

Revenge

I grew up watching the martial arts movies. The kung fu heroes usually have hatred towards the person who killed their family members and then the heroes wanted to make a revenge.
It's really common in this world, when other people were doing something bad to you, you might think to make a revenge.

But we must be different from this world. We need to make a difference.
God asks us to give the other cheek if we got slapped on the right cheek. We need to let go and really forgive others.
Of course, this is not easy. Of course, it will take a lot of efforts to do.
But, it's mission possible with God.
No revenge and make peace are the right thing to do right now. (-fon-)

Take the Responsibility

It’s very common nowadays, when a people is at fault, he will try to run from the responsibility and sometimes finding a scapegoat instead.
It’s easy, isn’t it? Especially in this more and more materialistic world where money talks is all that matters.

But we need to be different in our life. As God’s children, we need to be responsible for every act that we’ve been doing. We might make mistakes, but it’s our duty to take the responsibility and of course try not to make the same mistake.
If only people would take their own responsibility in every area of their life, this world would be a more peaceful one, where no one will accuse one another…
Well, we can start today by taking our own responsibility and not trying to run away from it.

I Will Give You Rest

When I had my first deep impression of Jesus around 8 years ago, He knocked the door of my heart by saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Yes, I was so tired at that time. I was tired of fighting the battle of life by myself. And then, Jesus came to my rescue and became my faithful friend until today.

Until this very day, I’m still experiencing the tiredness now and then. That’s when I go down on my knees before Him and pray. I still find that His shoulders are broad enough to give me the rest needed to fight another battle of life. I know that I will survive.
By knowing that He’ll be there even in the most burdened day of my life, made me feel secured.

So, what’s your burden today? Are you weary as well?
Don’t worry, just come to Him, and He will give us rest. (-fon-)

Peace Be With You

In times of turmoil, you might find that it’s hard to feel the peace. When you hear some bad news, you see some disasters happen, you’ll feel worried, scared and far from peaceful mind.

But the good news is: God’s peace can’t be understood. You can experience it even in times of trouble. Even your life is in chaotic condition. If He grants us the peace, it won’t be affected by any kind of situations that you’re facing at the moment.

So, in faith we believe that we’ll experience nothing but peace that comes from Him alone.
We could live our life in peace and joy. Just pray to Him, ask Him to grant us peace.
He’ll be able to give it to us…(-fon-)

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus

Beautiful In His Time

In case you’ve been waiting for something important in your life. Let say, you’ve been waiting for your Mr. or Miss Right (your soul-mate), or you’ve been longing for a child in your marriage, or you’ve been wanting to change job so badly, etc, etc. ( Well, I’m sure that you’ve been waiting for something for sure. I just want to remind all of us once more that He’s there. He hasn’t and won’t ever forget us. Well, we might think that He has forgotten us, but He’s not!
We need to be more patient to wait for His beautiful time to come in our life.
Not our time, but in His Perfect Timing.
He’ll make everything beautiful in His Time. (-fon-)

Awesome In This Place

This morning, I woke up and sang, "You are awesome in this place, mighty God! You are awesome in this place, Abba Father..."
Realizing that God is here with me in every step that I take, in every move that I make, made me feel safe and secured.
No matter where I am, He'll be here with me. No matter where I go, whether it's in Singapore or Indonesia, or any other part of this world, I need not be afraid because His love and guidance will always be there for me, for all of us.

So, if you might questioning whether He's here with you or not, now you don't need to do it anymore because we all know that He is awesome in this very place that we're staying right now. (-fon-)

In Control

I read a book by Sue Augustine with the title When Your Past Is Hurting Your Present. On page 45, I saw a very interesting writing of hers:
The same thing happens to us when challenges come into our life. It’s not always necessary to have everything going our way or to be able to get rid of the problems in order to have a good life. Instead, we merely need a sense of control within the situation. Though we can’t control other people or many of the situations we encounter, our control comes from knowing and understanding there are other options available to us. It’s when we mistakenly believe we are stuck --- with no alternatives--- that our difficulties overwhelm us.

When it comes right down to it, there is only one thing God has given us complete control of in this life, and that is our power to choose. That’s enough because it’s always our choices, and not our past experiences, that determine our future. Our past can control today and tomorrow only to the degree we allow it. The past should not be a place where we dwell, but a place from which we learn all we can and then move on. What freedom we’ll have once we have come to the place where we are “ forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”

Our own control is just a choice to decide which attitude would be our attitude when it comes to so many unavoidable challenging or difficult times in our life.
God has given us the control of choosing. Choose the right one by following our heart. And remember the biggest control goes to Him. He is in control and not ourselves. (-fon-)

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.
--- Romans 8:9

Trapped By Circumstances

When you’re too focused on your problems and those problems are too big for you to handle, you might feel that you’re trapped by circumstances. Sometimes you might even think of blaming everything: your condition, your spouse, your children, your colleagues, your country, yourself and last but not least: GOD.

According to Sue Augustine in When Your Past Is Hurting Your Present, “ When you are feeling trapped by your circumstances, start to see there are choices being offered to you each step of the way. Once you realize everything brings a choice and you don’t have to do anything, it will set you free. You are not locked in. There are alternatives…”

It’s such a soothing thing to read, especially when you’re stuck with your present situation and you seemed trapped by the circumstances.
Remember there are alternatives, you’re not in a deadlock. Our dear God will set us free when the time is right and it’s our duty as well to surrender our will because lots of things would go different with our will, but as long as it’s God’s will, I’m sure it will be the best for us.
Trust Him and Him alone. (-fon-)

Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge

Unconditional Love

As a mother, right now, I can understand how our mothers love us unconditionally. Well, she might not be a perfect mother figure for us. She might be too talkative, nagging, or too quiet. For us, maybe our mom isn’t exactly what we expected.
But, doing a ‘full time mom’ job right now made me realize that our mom has been there in almost every stage of our life. Especially when we’re sick, most of babies have fever, and they’ve been looking after us patiently. Not too mention in every problem that we’re facing in our everyday life, until today.

In order to understand a little bit of God’s unconditional love, we could see it from our mother’s love for us. We’re God’s disciples and we need to remember how unconditional His love is. So unconditional it was that made Him sacrifice Himself in such a humiliating crucifixion.
Never disappoint Him by living in despair or loosing hope. His love is more than enough to see us through. His Hand will be wide enough to hug us whenever we feel humiliated or rejected. His love is pure. Even purer than any other love we could see in this world.
Enjoy His unconditional love right now. (-fon-)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Lonely

Have you ever being in a situation where all around you is very crowded and yet you feel lonely?
I’ve been through that before.
Previously, even in the bustling road of Jakarta, I sometimes could feel the loneliness inside of me.
Then I read the bible. It said, Jesus often withdrew to lonely place and prayed.
As His disciple, then I realized, I need to follow His steps. Whenever I feel lonely, I need to pray. I need to seek the presence of God as my true friend. He’s there 24/7/365. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
He is the one who’s able to accompany us in each moment of our life.

So, whenever you feel lonely, just pray to God. Just seek His face and you’ll feel that you’ve got a friend in Him. Just call His Name, and He’ll be there. (-fon-)

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
